Son aceptadas internacionalmente las categorías de la OMS y de la EPA: categoría toxicológica I: extremadamente peligroso, categoría toxicológica II: altamente peligroso, categoría toxicológica III: moderadamente peligroso, categoría toxicológica IV: ligeramente peligroso.
